Sr. Data Engineer and Snowflake Expert

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Senior Data Engineer with expert-level knowledge in Snowflake to join our team. The Senior Data Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining data architecture and infrastructure for our customers, as well as providing guidance and mentorship to junior data engineers. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data engineering and architecture, expert-level knowledge in Snowflake, and experience in working with large datasets and distributed systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and maintain data architecture and infrastructure for our customers, ensuring it meets their business needs, scalability requirements, and Stellar expectations.
  • Develop ETL processes and data pipelines to extract, transform, and load data from various sources into Snowflake. This can include leveraging and building proprietary Stellar applications.
  • Optimize performance and scalability of our customer’s data platform, including Snowflake, by identifying and addressing bottlenecks and issues
  • Design and implement data security and access controls, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards
  • Develop and maintain documentation on data architecture and infrastructure and ensure those standards are fully integrated into our customer’s operating environments
  • Collaborate with data scientists and business stakeholders to ensure data is accurately collected, processed, and analyzed
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior data engineers, assisting them in developing their skills and knowledge
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies in data engineering and architecture, and make recommendations for improvement. 
  • Continue to evolve in Snowflake expertise, be a leader in adopting new Snowflake offerings, and drive our relationship with the Snowflake team.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • 7+ years of experience in data engineering, with at least 3 years of experience in Snowflake
  • Expert-level knowledge in Snowflake, including experience with advanced features such as Snowflake storage, Snowpark, query optimization, and security
  • Strong understanding of data modeling, database design, and data warehousing concepts
  • Experience with ETL tools and data integration technologies such as Apache Airflow, Talend, Informatica. Experience with FiveTran a plus!
  • Familiarity with distributed systems and large dataset processing frameworks such as Hadoop, Spark, or Flink
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and resolve complex data engineering issues
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment
  • Experience in mentoring and coaching junior data engineers
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and project management tools such as Jira, Trello, or Asana is a plus
